The keyboard has been updated from A to Z.

First of all, the Apple team wanted it to be a completely complete Mac. And for this it was very important to keep the full-size keyboard. And to fit in such a thin laptop, it had to be developed from scratch, almost from scratch. Every component of the keyboard has been designed specifically for the new MacBook: the main mechanism, the shape of the key curve, and even a new unique font. As a result, the keyboard has become much thinner than all the previous ones. Now, when you press a key, it clearly rises and falls without the slightest delay - and your text is typed faster and more accurately.


Butterfly mechanism.
Conventional keyboards use a mechanism called "scissors", which has one significant drawback - the keys are slightly loose at the edges. If you press such a key closer to the edge, it may hit the bottom before the mechanism registers the press. Obviously, the accuracy of typing suffers. Therefore, Apple has developed a new keyboard that uses a butterfly mechanism. It is a one-piece element made of stiffer materials, with a larger footprint. Thanks to this, the keys have become more stable, respond more accurately to pressing and at the same time take up less space in height. This innovative technology delivers crisper, more stable performance no matter which part of the key you press.


In the smallest details. With all subtlety.

Stunning realism isn't the only benefit of the 12-inch Retina display on the new MacBook. It's also incredibly thin. In fact, it's the thinnest Retina display ever used on a Mac: just 0.88 millimeters. A specially designed automatic production process produces glass as thin as 0.5 millimeters that completely covers the screen. In addition, Apple has reduced the distance between the display components and created a one-piece, thinner design.



Force touch trackpad. Push deeper, get more.

Externally, the new Force Touch trackpad is no different from others, but it has unique new features. Its sensors monitor how hard the trackpad is being pressed, while the new Taptic Engine delivers a clicky feel when pressed anywhere on the surface. In fact, with Force Touch technology, a simple mechanical click function becomes something much more. The force sensors in the Force Touch trackpad are sensitive to the slightest difference in pressure, so you can perform various actions in applications using the same work surface.
