MacBook is rightfully considered a tool for professionals. No wonder he has the prefix “Pro”. Back in the days of the first “proshok”, this laptop was considered one of the best. Only premium quality materials, excellent screen, sound and everything else. MacBook Pro has become an integral part of recording studios, video editors, editors, encoders and other aspects where reliability and reliability are important.

The most significant transition was in 2011-2012, when the MacBook received a Retina screen. Yes, there were problems with it, but at that time it was something new and unusual. Now everyone is used to high definition, brightness, speed. In 2018, it’s hard to please the users of technology, because you can’t jump above your head, right?

The guys from Apple thought the opposite. In 2016, they showed Pro without the usual USB (for those who are especially knowledgeable about USB Type-A). Instead, they equipped their models with 2 or 4 USB Type-C connectors. From above, this is “seasoned” with the absence of function buttons (F1-F12). Instead, we have a touch panel called Touch Bar (base models ship without it). The people did not take it very warmly, but they got used to it.

The 2017 update did not carry much novelty. We updated the processor to the 7th generation, updated the graphics and cut the battery. It can be called a “minor” update.

Screen update

Macs always have a great screen, especially since 2012. Screen resolution, brightness, contrast here is beyond praise. After 2015, the range of colors was expanded to the DCI-P3 standard. What have they done now? It's simple, we added True Tone technology. True Tone - Allows the screen to adjust its white balance based on ambient light and is very familiar to users of the new iPhones and iPads. In practice, this is useful. Eyes will not get tired during routine work. If we are talking about working with a video (painting it) or working with a photo, the function will need to be turned off, because the white color will not be white.

The screen resolution remains the same, it is 2880 by 1800 pixels with a density of 220 ppi for 15 inches and 2560 by 1600 pixels for 13 inches. The color range is at DCI-P3 level, and the brightness is 500 nits (that's good, just be aware of it).

It is a pleasure to work with such a screen. All photos look better, people are beautiful, children are happy, even the image on the desktop will sparkle with new colors. The screen can be put a solid five.

The most important thing in a laptop is the processor. Every year, Intel and AMD show new solutions, and Apple, in turn, installs them in their products. 2018 was not a victory for AMD and an 8th generation Intel Core i5 / Intel Core i7 processor (depending on the model) is installed inside, namely Coffee Lake. In 15 inch models, the chips are now 6 core. What do they promise us from these chips:

• 20-75% performance increase (in different programs it will be different, because O - optimization).

• Integrated graphics will become 2 times more powerful. Very relevant for 13 inch models.

What does this really give us? Everything will work faster: Final Cut, Adobe package, editing and 3D graphics of course. But everything is relative. Let's see how quickly software vendors optimize 6-core support for Mac OS.

Graphics subsystem

The 13 inch model never boasted good graphics. Now the company's policy has changed somewhat and even in the lower models, the graphics are not so bad, namely the Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655.

The 15-inch model has a Radeon Pro 560X or 550X with 4GB in the older and younger models, respectively. Such graphics are enough to work with everything (except for games, of course, a thing). Especially if you take into account that this is a mobile thing and you can always take it with you. The frequency of the core, memory and ... has increased. this is quite enough. The PC version of the GTX 1080 TI is clearly not included here.

RAM, SSD, new bonuses

Apple is proud that 32GB RAM models are now available. And that means that Chrome will almost have enough RAM to load all of your pages. In fact, it is ideal for video makers. The performance increased by 2.8 times, the frequency increased from 2133 MHz to 2400 MHz (this is important for someone).

SSD he and in Africa SSD. Read speed - 3.2 GB / s, write - 2.2 GB / s. Most likely, SSDs hit the speed ceiling in the current memory parameters. The maximum capacity for 13” is 2TB and for 15” is 4TB.

It is installed on the 13" and 15" Touch Bar models and is equipped with a Secure Enclave co-processor that provides the secure boot function and is responsible for storing encrypted data. Everything is as it should be, it is extremely difficult to change something in such a product, you can only improve it.
